Dianne Vitkus
Advisory Board
On July 19, 2020, twelve days before her 28th birthday, Dianne fell off a ladder and broke her C6 vertebrae. She had been working as a surgical Physician Assistant in Upstate NY just 20 mins from her hometown. After spending a month in the ICU at Syracuse, she was transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Center for 2 months. After being discharged she went to Journey Forward - the same non-profit facility in Canton MA that Matt went to.
Previously a collegiate D1 athlete, she has not let having a spinal cord injury keep her from having sport, travel and a career in her life. She travels across the country to try new ways to get active with various adaptive sports programs and organizations like the Kelly Brush Foundation, and she returned to work virtually as a Psychiatric Physician Assistant. She is committed to staying involved in the SCI community as a mentor for SCI Boston and Empower SCI, as well as an ambassador for Wings for Life and the Impossible Dream.
